Preneed: Funeral Service's Divided Heart

Written by Carol Hendrick

Preneed has been a key issue that has torn a gap between funeral directors (repesented by NFDA) and cemetarians (represented bu the International Cemetery and Funeral Association or IFCA). The opposition stems from the differences in sales practice regulations placed on the two groups. In general, funeral service sales practices are regulated and cemetery sales are not. Preneed: Funeral Service's Divided Heart, written by Carol Hendrick, NFDA's director of government relations, addresses the preneed issue and describes the position of the two organizations. The artice explains how the preneed issue will detirmine how the two organization will associate with one another in the future. If current differences persist, they will always be suspicious of each other's political action moves and motives. If they can get past the preneed issue, they will make an awesome government relations powerhouse in Congress and in state legislatures throughout the country.
