The World's Greatest Philanthropy—Memorial donations to Shriners hospitals provide free medical care to thousands of kids features a list of the 22 Shriner Hospitals, which give care to children under the age of 18 who have orthopedic problems, spinal cord injuries or burns. This care has been given without charge—completely free—since 1922. The hospitals have served more than 500,000 children.
